Jelly Roll stands 6 feet 1 inch tall, or 185 cm. That’s the height confirmed across public records, interviews, and side-by-side event photos with other artists.
His real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, and he was born on December 4, 1984, in Antioch, Tennessee. You might have seen shorter numbers floating around online.
We’ll clear that up further down this page. For now, here’s the short version: at 6’1″, Jelly Roll is taller than the average American man, and that frame is part of why he commands a room the moment he steps on stage.

Jelly Roll’s weight has moved quite a bit over the past few years, and that’s part of what makes his story worth following.
He hit a low of around 265 pounds in late 2025, right before his Men’s Health cover came out in January 2026. By April 2026, he was open about gaining some of it back, weighing in at 276.2 pounds on camera.
That kind of honesty is rare and it’s exactly why fans keep coming back to check on his progress.
Why Is There Confusion About His Height?
If you’ve searched around, you may have come across sites claiming Jelly Roll is 5 feet 7 inches (170 cm) tall. That number is incorrect, and it likely spread from a single outdated or misreported source that other low quality sites then copied without checking.
It doesn’t match any verified interview, red carpet appearance, or side by side comparison with other artists whose heights are already confirmed.
The confusion probably also comes from photos. Jelly Roll’s larger frame can make him look shorter than he actually is in certain camera angles, especially when he’s standing next to taller performers or when he’s seated.
Once you compare him standing next to artists of known height, the 6 foot 1 inch figure holds up consistently. That’s the number we’re confident in, and it’s the one backed by the most reliable sources available.
Jelly Roll vs Other Country and Music Stars: Height Comparison
Jelly Roll’s height puts him solidly above average, though he’s not the tallest name in country music. Here’s how he stacks up.
| Artist | Height |
| Blake Shelton | 6’5″ (196 cm) |
| Luke Bryan | 6’2″ (188 cm) |
| Jelly Roll | 6’1″ (185 cm) |
| Drake | 6’0″ (183 cm) |
| Morgan Wallen | 5’10” (178 cm) |
| Keith Urban | 5’10” (178 cm) |
| Eminem | 5’8″ (173 cm) |
At 6’1″, Jelly Roll sits right in the middle of this group. He’s shorter than Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan, but taller than several other well known names in music, including Morgan Wallen and Eminem. This is one reason his height sparks so much curiosity.
He’s tall enough to stand out, but close enough in range to other stars that fans naturally want a direct comparison.
Jelly Roll’s Weight Loss Journey: Year by Year
Jelly Roll’s transformation didn’t happen overnight, and he’s been open about every part of it, including the setbacks.
2015: In a 2018 Instagram post looking back, Jelly Roll revealed that in 2015 he weighed over 500 pounds. His doctor’s scale only went up to 500, so he had to visit a truck stop to get an actual number. He later called it “one of the most embarrassing days of my life.”
2022: This is when Jelly Roll started the weight loss journey he talks about most often, reaching a peak weight of around 540 to 550 pounds around this time. On the Bobby Bones Show that year, he opened up about carrying the weight his whole life, saying, “I’ve been fat my whole life… She started calling me Jelly Roll when I was young, and I spent the next 20 years trying to grow into the name.”
2024: By this point, Jelly Roll had lost around 110 pounds. In October, he posted on Instagram, “Next year when y’all see me, you won’t recognize me.” In December, he told his wife Bunnie Xo on her Dumb Blonde Podcast why he chose to do this so publicly: “I did this publicly for a reason. I want to be honest about my struggles with it with people. I wore it for so long.”
2025: The progress kept building. By April, he had lost nearly 200 pounds total. In August, at SummerSlam, he stepped on the scale at 299 pounds, marking the first time he’d been under 300 pounds since middle school. By November, he was down to around 265 pounds.
2026: In January, his Men’s Health cover came out, capturing him at that 265 pound mark, a goal he had held onto since his time in prison. But in April, he shared a more honest update in a YouTube vlog, revealing he had gained some weight back, weighing in at 276.2 pounds.
He explained it plainly: “I’ve been working hard for the last three years losing this weight. I’m going to enjoy the holidays.”
Through it all, Jelly Roll has stayed consistent about one thing. As he put it, “I didn’t become successful because of my weight. I became successful in spite of it.”
Jelly Roll’s Height in Photos
Photos are one of the easiest ways to confirm Jelly Roll’s height, especially when he’s standing next to other well known figures.
On red carpets, he’s visibly taller than co-presenters closer to average height, and side by side shots with fellow country artists back up the 6 foot 1 inch figure rather than the incorrect 5’7″ claim circulating on some low quality sites.
